报告摘要:The field of complex systems and networks (CS) has developed considerably over the last twenty years, both in terms of methods and in terms of the formalization and analysis tools used for these systems. A CS can be defined as a system consisting of a large number of heterogeneous entities that form the basis for local interactions, generating collective structures and organizations on many different scales. This presentation fits within this definition, in particular by studying networks of differential equations (PDEs or ODEs), for example systems of PDE systems and the patterns that emerge from them, mainly with applications to living organisms.

Thus, after giving a general overview of CS, I will present examples of ODE or PDE (from epidemiology, neuroscience or issues of biodiversity and ecosystems) and show the concrete value of thinking “complex”.

If time permits, I will present an innovative complex network of reaction-diffusion systems located in distinct domains, with couplings at the boundaries, modeling the evolution of interacting populations living in a fragmented environment, whose individuals migrate from one part of their habitat to another.

专家简介:M. A. Aziz-Alaoui received the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France, in 1987 and the Habilitation (HDR) degree from LeHavre Normadie University in 2001. He is currently full professor of applied mathematics with the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, LeHavre Normadie University. He has authored more than 140 SCI journal articles published in the fields of nonlinear dynamical systems, complex networks, and complex systems, with various applications. His current research interests in nonlinear dynamics include bio or ecological modeling, focusing in the understanding of self-organization and emergent properties arising from such natural systems. He was a Visiting Fellow or Visiting Professor with many universities, such as Wuhan University, China, University of Waterloo, Canada, and Chaos Group, Maryland University. He is serving as an Associate Editor for numerous international journals, such as International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos. He is currently the head of the Dynamical and complex Systems, Evolution Problems, Team in the Applied Math. Lab., and vice président as the university’s ethics officer, former head of that lab and former vice-président of the university in charge of research, doctorales studies and transfer. M. Aziz-Alaoui has also supervised many PhD and Master degree thesis.  He organized conferences and workshops on these topics, and contributed to many international conferences organizations.
